NGC 2187 is an interacting galaxy pair consisting of two spiral galaxies of the Hubble type Sa in the constellation Dorado in the southern sky . They are an estimated 169 million light years from the Milky Way .
The object was discovered by John Herschel on December 23, 1834 .
