NGC 2175 is the name of an open star cluster with gas nebula in the northeast region of the constellation Orion . NGC 2175 has an angular diameter of 18 arc minutes and a magnitude of 6.8 mag. The object was probably observed by Giovanni Battista Hodierna before 1654, but this is not certain. That is why the German astronomer Karl Christian Bruhns is considered to be the discoverer who observed the object in 1857.
