NGC 2206 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBbc in the constellation Great Dog south of the celestial equator . It is an estimated 272 million light years away from the Milky Way and is about 200,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered by John Herschel on January 20, 1835 .
