List of interstellar radio messages

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The list of interstellar radio messages contains a list of the human interstellar radio messages. Interstellar radio messages are abbreviated as IRM (interstellar radio messages) in English.

Classification of Interstellar Radio Messages (IRMs)

There are ten implemented IRM projects:

The messages Across the Universe and Hello From Earth are not always recognized as serious. The first was sent to Polaris , which is 431 light years away and whose planetary system, should it exist, may not be fit for life. In addition, the transmission rate (around 128 kbit / s) was very high for the low transmission power (around 18 kW). The main point of criticism of "Hello From Earth" is the inadequate scientific and technical attitude, as no recognized SETI scientist made statements about the design of the message. The description of the flow of this message is as follows: “After the last message was collected on August 24, 2009, the message was exported as a text file and sent to NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California, where it was binary-coded and compressed before transmission and were tested ”, but no explanation was given of how potential aliens could receive and understand such encoded and compressed text.

The messages were addressed to stars between 17 and 69 light years from Earth. The exception to this is the Arecibo message that was directed at Messier 13 , which is estimated to be 24,000 light years away. A Message From Earth will be the first message to reach its destination. The arrival of the message at the star Gliese 581 in the constellation Libra is expected in 2029.
