List of found footage films (material appropriation)
The term found footage (German: Found footage ) is now on two very different film genres applied. Therefore two separate lists are kept.
This list only contains found footage films that consist wholly or partially of material that was not shot or designed by the filmmakers themselves. This sub-genre occurs most frequently in the field of experimental and avant-garde films. The "found" foreign material, which has been compiled from various sources, is mostly removed from its original context and reinterpreted by the assembly .
Differentiation from the narrative method :
Films in which the filmmakers themselves staged, pseudo-documentary found footage material as narrative means of creation do not belong in this list. This narrative method is mainly used in horror films . Please enter such films in the list of found footage films (narration method) .
