List of buildings in Pompeii

The following table lists the names of well-known buildings in Pompeii . Column 1 contains the Italian name most commonly used in scientific literature, column 2 the German name if applicable.

The numbers in column 3 correspond to the system introduced by Giuseppe Fiorelli ( regio , insula , domus ). Example: The house of the Ceii has the number I 6, 15. It is therefore in Regio I, Insula 6, house or entrance no. 15.

In the alphabetical classification and sorting, the words Casa or Haus as well as Italian or German articles , conjunctions and prepositions are not taken into account.

The abbreviation MANN in found objects refers to the Museo Archeologico Nazionale in Naples .

The light green colored areas mark the boundaries of the region (district). The insulae (blocks of houses) appear magenta with their numbers. The map is based on the 1: 5000 overview plan by Hans Eschebach (see literature ). The areas that have not been excavated (as of 1993) are colored gray.
