The Livdebotnen is a basin in the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . In the Alexander von Humboldt Mountains of the Wohlthat massif, it lies between the northeast side of Flånuten and the west side of Botnfjellet .
He was discovered and photographed during the German Antarctic Expedition (1938–1939) under the direction of Alfred Ritscher . It was mapped using aerial photographs taken during the Third Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956–1960). His name translates into German as “Valley of Refuge”.
