Coordinates: 31 ° 29 ′  S , 150 ° 41 ′  E Liverpool Plains Shire is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of New South Wales . The area is 5,082.2 km² and has about 7,700 inhabitants.

Liverpool Plains is located in the northeast of the state north of the Hunter region about 370 km north of the metropolis of Sydney and 640 km southwest of Brisbane . The area includes 50 hamlets and hamlets, including Ardglen, Bundella, Caroona, Colly Blue, Currabubula, Old Warrah, Pine Ridge, Premer, Quirindi , Spring Ridge, Tamarang, Wallabadah, Werris Creek , Willow Tree, Yarraman and part of Blackville. The headquarters of the Shire Council is in Quirindi in the east of the LGA, where about 2,700 residents live.

The Liverpool Plains Shire Council has seven members elected by LGA residents. Liverpool Plains is not subdivided into districts. The mayor of the council is also recruited from among the councilors.
