Liz Rech

Elisabeth Ursula "Liz" Rech (* 1975 in Munich ) is a German dramaturge , director and performer who works in the border area between theater , performance and installation .

Life

Liz Rech first studied drama, social psychology and modern German literature at the Bavarian Theater Academy .

After you have completed your studies u. a. worked as assistant director at the Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin , she studied drama for one year at the “Conservatoire D'Art Dramatique” in Avignon / France in 1998 ; then she resumed her studies in Munich. During this time, the first directorial work was already done ( attacks on Anne by Martin Crimp 2000, Brothers + Sisters by Olivier Cadiot 2001), almost all of which can be assigned to the area of site specific theater and have already integrated installation elements.

After graduating as a graduate dramaturge in 2001, she began studying directing at the Institute for Drama Theater Directing at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater . There she studied a. a. with Sandra Strunz, Falk Richter and Andreas Kriegenburg .

Since 2007 she has realized numerous projects in the border area between drama theater and performance (ABOUT / RESTE / Staatstheater Stuttgart 2006; BASTARD. WAHLIDENTITÄTEN / Ernst Deutsch Theater Hamburg 2008). In addition, work on video and installation projects (MOUTH / MUND (2006); TAPE 1-4 (2007); DRESSED_TO_KILL (2008)). In addition to projects in the site-specific context, she has recently also been working in the intercultural area. She worked u. a. with the directors Gerardo Naumann from Buenos Aires and Tobias Rausch from lunatiks produktion Berlin, the choreographer Antoine Effroy (Hamburg), and the director Sylvi Kretzschmar (Hamburg, Vienna).

Since 2009 she has been part of the artists' initiative “Come in the gangs” in the Gängeviertel / Hamburg; In this context, she realized numerous interventions and performative actions, including MOVING WALLS (2009), GANGARTEN (2010), DU LÜGST! Since 2010 she has been part of the international artist network “sweet and tender collaborations”; The TREFFEN TOTAL collaborative network emerged from the Total 2010 meeting. Since then there have been several other meetings in Hamburg: Treffen Total Lokal (Kampnagel 2014), Treffen Total 2010 (Tanzplan Hamburg), Treffen Total 2018 (Tanzplan Hamburg).

Artistic research

Since 2015 she has been doing research at the artistic-scientific graduate college PERFORMING CITIZENSHIP in Hamburg on the subject of “PERFORMING CITIZENSHIP - ASSEMBLY IN (THE) MOVEMENT. The bodies of the citizens and their movements in space ”. The graduate college is supported by a cooperation between the HafenCity University (HCU) / Metropolis Culture Department, the University of Applied Sciences (HAW) / Design Department and two research-oriented, non-university cultural institutions, the research theater / FUNDUS THEATER and K3 - Center for Choreography | Dance plan Hamburg. In this context, the artistic research project 〉〉〉〉〉〉 MARCHING SESSION I - VI was presented. _____________ 〉〉〉〉〉 Interactive (lecture) performance for fellow runners and step makers. as part of the research training group's project week (April 2016). In September 2017 the second research project 〉〉〉〉〉〉 HALLO, MARSCH! ________ 〉〉〉〉. Collective walking performance for fellow runners and step makers. As a participatory performance, the project was carried out as part of the Hallo Festspiele as a walking performance from the Berliner Tor to the old Bille power plant in Hammerbrook / Hamburg.

Teaching

In 2009/2010 she taught on the subject of lecture performance in the Performance Studies course at the University of Bremen. From 2007 to 2014 she taught theater as part of the Studium Generale at the Bucerius Law School in Hamburg and since 2016 she has been at the Hamburg University of Music and Drama (HfMT). In addition, she regularly leads theater workshops and gives workshops nationwide as part of teacher training for the subject of performing games.
