lunatiks produktion is a theater collective from Berlin . The group was founded in 2001 and mainly realizes projects in the fields of theater , installation and performance .
The group became known with the first auction of a play on eBay ("livingROOMS: das Zuhausetheater", 2004).

Characteristics

Most of the productions are located in the border areas between site specific theater and documentary research projects. The projects are often based on interviews with contemporary witnesses or documentary material. According to its self-image, lunatiks produktion carries out "research work with the means of the theater". The focus is on historical material from recent German history (e.g. "Westflug" for the hijacking of a Polish passenger plane from Gdansk to West Berlin in 1978 or "extras of the scandal" for the Barschel-Pfeiffer affair ) as well as the question of the connection between crimes and society ("Die Polizey - Physiognomie der Angst" on the criminalistic psychotopography of large cities or "Performing crime - Archive of Crimes" on crime as a medium of cultural expression). The aesthetic implementation follows the requirements of the material and is only determined by those involved in the course of the topic research. There are productions in which laypeople and those affected become performers themselves (like six highly talented children and young people in the performance "highQ") or in which a building becomes a walk-in installation (like a shell in downtown Stuttgart that becomes a "Search simulator" is made ("Sprengpunkte", 2006)). In other productions, the material is turned into a stage play that is performed by professional actors.
