Tobias Rausch (director)

Tobias Rausch (* 1972 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German theater director and author .

Life

Rausch studied philosophy , biology and literature in Freiburg and Berlin . Since 2001 he has worked as a freelance director and author. He worked at numerous city theaters, including in Berlin, Hanover, Frankfurt am Main, Basel, Mannheim, Karlsruhe, Dresden, Heidelberg, Rostock, Stuttgart, Kiel, Bielefeld and Greifswald and was also active nationally and internationally at independent venues. With his production Alles offen at the Rostock Volkstheater he was nominated by Theater heute as one of the young artists of 2010.

Until 2015, Rausch was a member of the theater and performance collective lunatiks produktion, which he co-founded . From the 2019/2020 season he will take over the management of the Bürgerbühne at the Dresden State Theater .

In his projects, the text of the piece is often created on the basis of research. This is how his work Oder Bruch, which premiered at the Deutsches Theater in 2012, was created after questioning 100 people in Poland and Germany about their experiences during the flood of the Oder in 1997 , who captured a variety of perspectives on the event.

Rausch held teaching positions at the Zurich University of the Arts , the Berlin University of the Arts , the Braunschweig University of Art and the Center for Performance Studies at the University of Bremen .
