Liz Renay (* 14. April 1926 in Chandler , Arizona as Pearl Elizabeth Dobbins ; † 22. January 2007 in Las Vegas , Nevada ) was an American burlesque - dancer , stripper and actress .

Career

Liz Renay left early her conservative parents' house and worked in Las Vegas as a model, stripper and dancer, also won one of the Twentieth Century Fox directed Marilyn Monroe -Doppelgänger competition. In 1957 she moved to Los Angeles . Her love affair with mobster Mickey Cohen earned her first appearances on television, but also a three-year prison sentence for perjury in 1961, but Renay was released after 27 months for good conduct. After her prison sentence, she continued her successful career as a burlesque dancer, stage star and celebrity .

Her fame earned her several roles and guest appearances in films and TV shows in the years that followed. In 1971 her autobiography My Face for the World to See was published . In 1977 she played the lead role of Muffy St. Jacques in the trash film Desperate Living , directed by John Waters . Her second book, My First 2,000 Men , was published in 1992 . Liz Renay was a media star well into old age, she died in 2007 of a gastrointestinal bleeding.

Private life

Liz Renay has been married seven times. Her daughter Brenda, with whom she also performed as a dancer, committed suicide in 1982. Her son, Johnny Allen McLain Sr., was from their second marriage. In her book My First 2,000 Men , she reports on numerous love affairs, also with celebrities such as Joe DiMaggio , Cary Grant or Regis Philbin .
