Lizzy Gardiner
Liza "Lizzy" Gardiner (* 1966 in Dubbo , New South Wales ) is an Australian costume designer who, in addition to an Oscar for best costume design, has won several other film awards . Life
Lizzy Gardiner began her career as a costume designer in the film industry in 1987 with the film Jilted and has been involved in the costume design of around twenty films to this day.
For the costumes in the tragic comedy Priscilla - Queen of the Desert (1994) by Stephan Elliott with Terence Stamp , Hugh Weaving and Guy Pearce , she and Tim Chappel won both the Oscar for the best costumes and the prize for the best costumes in Australian film in 1995 Institute ( AFI Award ) and the British Academy Film Award for the best costumes . In the film, she also played a supporting role as a hotel worker. She caused a sensation with the dress she wore at the 1995 Academy Awards: It was made by herself from several hundred gold American Express credit cards issued in her name and was auctioned in March 1999 for $ 12,650 in favor of the American Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR) auctioned.
Most recently she received the Feature Film Award for Best Costume Design at the 2001 New York International Independent Film and Video Festival, for Time of Cruelty (1998) by Roberta Hanley with Julie Cox , Sammi Davis and Emily Lloyd .
Lizzy Gardiner and Tim Chappel also designed the costumes for the film after Priscilla - Queen of the Desert 2006 resulting musical Priscilla - The Musical and won this included 2011 the Tony Award for best costumes in a musical .
