The Loktschim ( Russian Локчим ; also Лэкчим , Lektschim , Локшма , Lokschma or Лонгима , Longima ) is a 272 (with source river Badju 322) kilometers long left tributary of the Wytschegda in the northeast of the European part of Russia .

course

The Loktschim arises in the south of the Komi Republic at a height of 137  m on the 50 km long source rivers Badju from the right and Sedju from the left. It initially flows in a south-easterly direction, then describes a wide arc, first in a south-westerly, then north-westerly to northerly direction through the taiga . In his mostly swampy valley meanders of the river strong. It finally flows into the Wytschegda, the largest tributary of the Northern Dvina , at an altitude of 82  m at the village of Ust-Lektschim ( Ust-Loktschim ), almost 50 km east-northeast of Syktywkar .

The most important tributaries Pewk , Wuktyl , Sol , Lepju ( Lopju ), Tsched and Bolshoi Pewk ("Great Pewk") all flow from the left.

Hydrography

The catchment area of the Loktschim covers 6,600 km². Near the mouth, the river is about 70 meters wide and up to two meters deep; the flow velocity here is 0.7 m / s.

The Loktschim freezes from late October / early November to April. The water flow at Bojarkeros , 53 kilometers above the estuary, is an annual average of 53.6 m³ / s with a minimum of 15.7 m³ / s in February and a maximum of 246 m³ / s in May.

Infrastructure and economy

The Loktschim is navigable for 154 km from the village of Lopydino below the confluence of the Lepju.

There are no cities on the river, but there are a number of villages such as Namsk , Mordino and Postykeros . These are mainly along the road that connects Lopygino with the district administrative center of Kortkeros , which is on the left bank of the Vytschegda eight kilometers below the Loktschim estuary and on the regional road R26 Syktywkar - Troitsko-Pechorsk . The area through which the Loktschim flows is heavily used for forestry.
