Lomelosia albocincta is a species of the genus Lomelosia in the subfamily of the cardaceae (Dipsacoideae).

features

Lomelosia albocincta is a shrub that reaches heights of 20 to 40 centimeters. The leaves are broadly elliptical and covered with hairs. These are straight, uniform, and almost bristly. On the surface they are loosely distributed and of medium length, on the edge very dense, elongated and forming a white line. The shaft is strong and loosely haired backwards; the hair is unevenly long. The chalice bristles protrude far beyond the more or less narrow edge of the outer chalice.

The flowering period extends from August to October.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 18.

Occurrence

Lomelosia albocincta is only found in western and central Crete . The species grows on limestone walls at altitudes from 0 to 1500 meters.

Taxonomy

This species was first described in 1967 under the name (Basionym) Scabiosa albocincta Greuter .
