Lore Leher (born March 29, 1926 in Leipzig ; † August 29, 2017 in Wolfratshausen ) was a German author and translator of children's and youth literature .

Life

Lore Leher grew up as Hannelore Müller-Hahn in Berlin. Because her father, the journalist Georg Müller-Hahn, was Jewish, she had to leave high school early in 1941. Until the end of the Second World War , she worked as a domestic worker and in a factory.

After the war, Lore Leher studied languages ​​and social pedagogy and wrote his first poems and plays. From 1954 she lived in Munich and worked there in the city's youth work. She became a member of the Schwabing Water Lily Circle . In 1956 she married a colleague. After the birth of a son in 1960, she began to write texts for children's books - mostly in rhyme form. From 1971 Lore Leher worked as a social worker with foreign children in a psychological counseling center. Retired in 1986, she lived in the Bavarian foothills of the Alps .
