Lore Wissmann

Lore Wissmann (born June 22, 1922 in Neckartailfingen , Württemberg ; † December 25, 2007 in Uffing am Staffelsee ) was a German opera singer ( soprano ).

Life

After studying at the Musikhochschule in Stuttgart , she made her debut in 1942 at the State Opera there, to which she belonged for over thirty years.

She sang all the important lyrical roles there, including Minnie from The Girl from the Golden West , Liù from Turandot , Marie from The Bartered Bride and Manon from ( Manon Lescaut ) and also appeared in numerous world premieres, including from Hindemith , Stravinsky and Orff .

She has made guest appearances at all leading opera houses in Europe. In Bayreuth she sang parts from Rheingold and in 1956 Eva in the Meistersinger . Lore Wissmann was also able to celebrate great successes on the concert podium. She was married to the tenor Wolfgang Windgassen (1914–1974).

From 1951 Lore Wissmann was a Württemberg chamber singer.

Lore Wissmann rests next to her husband Wolfgang Windgassen at the Waldfriedhof Stuttgart (Department 1 A) in the Degerloch district .
