Carlo Agostini (born April 22, 1888 in San Martino di Lupari , Province of Padua , Italy , † December 28, 1952 in Venice ) was Archbishop and Patriarch of Venice and Cardinal- designate .

Life

Carlo Agostini studied in Treviso and Rome the subjects philosophy and Catholic theology . He received the sacrament of ordination on September 24, 1910 and was given leave to study. From 1913 to 1932 he taught at the seminary of Treviso, which he headed as Regens from 1925 .

On January 20, 1932, Pope Pius XI appointed him . to the Bishop of Padua . The episcopal ordination donated him on April 10, 1932 Andrea Giacinto Longhin .

In 1936 Agostini became the Apostolic Administrator of Treviso . Pope Pius XII appointed him Patriarch of Venice on February 5, 1949 and proclaimed his elevation to cardinal on November 29, 1952.

Carlo Agostini died of Parkinson's disease on December 28, 1952, two weeks before the consistory . He was buried in the crypt of St. Mark's Basilica.
