Lorena Aires

Lorena Aires (born August 8, 1995 in Cerro de Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan athlete .

Career

Aires is the daughter of the former soccer goalkeeper Carlos Aires (including Club Atlético Cerro , Rampla Juniors ). She is active in high jump , long jump , triple jump and shot put as well as on the 100 meter hurdles course . At the Uruguayan Championships in 2011 , she won the title in high jump, long jump and triple jump. She won the bronze medal over 100 meter hurdles. In March 2014, the Uruguayan team took part in the 2014 South American Games in Santiago . There she jumped 1.73 meters and took 5th place in the high jump. In August she won silver in the long jump at the Uruguayan Championships in 2014 , finished 5th in the shot put and became champion with the 4 x 100 meter relay and high jump. On August 30, 2014, she set a Uruguayan U-20 record of 1.75 meters , which is still valid as a national record (as of June 15, 2015), just like her Uruguayan high jump record set the following year. She has held this position since March 27, 2015 with a jump of 1.76 meters. She set the record at the second Grand Prix Sudamericano in Buenos Aires , where she won the silver medal.
