Lorentz Henrik Segelcke Dietrichson (born January 1, 1834 in Bergen , † March 6, 1917 in Christiania ) was a Norwegian art and literary historian and poet. He studied in Christiania (Oslo) and even then made a name for himself with funny student songs that were collected in 1859 under the title Samfundsviser og Sange af Jörgen Latiner .

On March 31, 1862, he married the portrait and genre painter Mathilde Bonnevie , who gave birth to their daughter Honoria in Rome in 1863.

After he had worked for some time at the libraries of Sweden and had published the literary-historical work Om Läredigtet i Nordens poetiske Litteratur (1860), he got a job as a lecturer at Uppsala University in 1861 , became amanuensis (secretary) at the National Museum in 1866 , and professor in 1868 at the Academy of Arts in Stockholm and later worked for a few years (1870–1873) at the trade school there. Since 1875 he has held the extraordinary professorship in art history at the University of Christiania, where he is also the first director of the National Gallery, the Copper Engraving Collection and the Museum of Applied Arts, through whose founding he has had a lasting influence on the development of Nordic art. Repeated study trips took him to Italy (1862–1865 he acted as consulate secretary in Rome), Greece, Asia Minor, Egypt, Russia etc.

Among his works deserve special mention: Indledning i Studiet af Sveriges Litteratur i vor Aarhundrede (Copenhagen 1862); Omrids af den norske Poesies Historie (das. 1866–1869, 2 vols.); Det Skönas Verld. Estetikens och Konsthistoriens Hufvudläror (Stockholm 1860–1870); Fran min Vandringstid (das. 1873-1875, 3 vols.); Christ picture (Copenhagen 1880); Antinous, an art archaeological study (Christiania 1884); Fra Kunsten's Verden (Copenhagen 1885). He also wrote monographs on Runeberg (Stockholm 1864) and Tidemand (1878–1879), several plays ( En Arbetare , Karl Folkunge etc.), the poetry Kivleslatten (1879) and numerous critical and art-historical articles in Norwegian, Swedish and German magazines. From 1875 to 1876 he published a tides for Konst och Konstindustri in Stockholm.

Dietrichson was married to the Norwegian painter Mathilde Bonnevie (born July 12, 1837 to Christiania) since 1862, who accompanied him on his travels.
