Lorenz Peckenstein

Lorenz Peckenstein , latin Laurentius Peccensteinius , (born August 29, 1549 in Grimma , † after 1618 ) was a Saxon administrative officer and historian .

Life

Early on, Peckenstein embarked on an administrative career and became a bailiff in Schlieben and Seyda in the Kurkreis of the Electorate of Saxony. In his free time he was interested in Saxon history and soon became one of the most famous historians of his time.

power

His best-known and lasting work is the Theatrum Saxonicum , published in 1608 , a detailed description of Upper Saxony in three parts.
