Lorenzo Carcaterra

Lorenzo Carcaterra , (born October 16, 1954 in Hell's Kitchen , New York , United States ) is an American writer. Carcaterra is best known for his book " Sleepers ", which was filmed in 1996 under the same name .

Life

Carcaterra got his first job in 1976 with the New York Daily News . There he worked his way up to a reporter for entertainment, before moving to TV-Cable Week , a Time Inc. magazine , in 1982 . Nine months later, production of the magazine ceased and Carcaterra was unemployed. An odyssey of attempts to establish himself as an author with publications in various magazines followed.

In 1988 Carcaterra switched to television as an advisor for the series "Cop Talk: Behind the Shield", which developed into a position as an editor for the CBS series "Top Cops". During these tenures Carcaterra wrote and published his first two books, “ My Father, the Murderer. A True Story of Love and Hate ”and“ Sleepers ”.

“My father, the killer. A True Story of Love and Hate, ”published in 1993, was widely accepted. Ten editions have been published to date , and the book has sold nearly 200,000 copies.

The 1995 release of "Sleepers" peaked at number one on the New York Times ' bestseller list in both hardcover and unbound editions, bringing Carcaterra into global focus. The novel has been sold more than 1,400,000 times to date. The novel was filmed in 1996 in the leading roles with Brad Pitt , Robert De Niro , Dustin Hoffman , Kevin Bacon , Minnie Driver and Jason Patric . Carcaterra was involved in the project as a co-producer.

Carcaterra lives in New York. He is married and has two children.
