Lorenzo Palomo (born March 10, 1938 in Ciudad Real ) is a Spanish composer.

Life

Lorenzo Palomo grew up in Pozoblanco and in Córdoba , where he received his musical training at the Conservatory. From 1958 he studied composition with Joaquín Zamacois and piano with Sofía Puche de Mendlewicz at the Barcelona Conservatory . He continued his conducting studies with Boris Goldovsky in New York City.

Palomo was appointed Chief Conductor of the Orquesta de Valencia in 1973. He was also guest conductor of the Manila Symphony Orchestra (Philippines). In 1981 he was in the wake of the new music director Jesus Lopez-Cobos for rehearsal pianist at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and has since been living in Berlin. In 2004 he retired.

Recordings of his compositions have been published by Naxos .

Palomo was appointed Grand Officer ( Encomienda de Número ) of the Order de Isabel la Católica .
