Lorenzo Sáez (born July 6, 1969 in Marcos Juárez , Córdoba ), also known by the nickname El Torpedo because of his speed , is a former Argentine football player in the position of the striker , who mainly acted as a right wing striker .

Life

Sáez began his professional career in the 1988/89 season in the ranks of Newell's Old Boys , with whom he won the Argentine championship in the 1990/91 season . Then he was under contract with Estudiantes de La Plata , the Argentinos Juniors and the All Boys .

Between the end of 1993 and 2000, “Torpedo” Sáez played for the Mexican clubs Deportivo Toluca , CF Pachuca , CF Monterrey , Club León and Atlético Yucatán .

In his first season in 1995/96 with Pachuca, Sáez scored 30 goals in the second-rate Primera División 'A' and was instrumental in promotion to the first division . In the following first division season 1996/97 he scored a total of 25 goals and was in the 1997 summer tournament with 12 goals - tied with Gabriel Caballero from the league rival Santos Laguna - top scorer of the Mexican league. Nevertheless, Pachuca rose at the end of the season and Sáez moved to Monterrey.

At the beginning of the 21st century, Sáez first played for the Venezuelan Monagas Sport Club , before he completed a few friendly games for the Argentine club Atlético Tiro Federal in 2003 .
