Lorenzo Serafini

Lorenzo Serafini OFMCap (originally Domenico Alfonso Serafini ; born May 23, 1773 in Camerata Nuova , † January 3, 1846 in Rome ) was an Italian religious , apostolic preacher and titular archbishop .

Life

At the age of 16 he was accepted into the Capuchin Order and received the name Lorenzo da Camerata when he was dressed on October 24, 1789 . He was ordained a priest on March 12, 1796. He was then lecturer in philosophy and later in theology. From 1810 to 1814, after the French authorities repealed the order , he worked as a secular clergyman in Macerata. In 1814 he returned to the Convent of Subiaco, where he became Guardian and Lector. Ten years later he was Definitor General of the Capuchin Order. Pope Leo XII. appointed him in 1827 as apostolic preacher and a year later as examiner of the bishops in theology.

On April 27, 1840, Pope Gregory XVI. him titular bishop of Corycus . He was consecrated as bishop on May 31 of the same year by Cardinal Bishop of Frascati Ludovico Micara OFMCap; Co-consecrators were the Bishops Pietro Angelo Luigi Pacifico Grati OSM, Prior General of the Servites , and Giuseppe Maria Pietro Raffaele Castellani , Papal Sacristan . Lorenzo Serafini was consultor of the Congregation for Rites .
