It belongs to the CAI - Section Carate Brianza and is managed from mid-June to mid-September. It offers sleeping places for 24 mountaineers and has a winter room with 8 beds.
location
The refuge is located in the upper Valmalenco a little below the Bocchetta delle Forbici at 2636 m slm in the municipality of Lanzada .
history
In 1916, during the First World War, the Alpini built a depot for the nearby Capanna Marinelli on the site of the Rifugio . In 1926 the simple warehouse hut was handed over by the municipality of Torre di Santa Maria to the Alpine Club Unione Escursionisti Caratesi , which expanded it and opened it as a refuge in 1927. In 1934, the Unione Escursionisti Caratesi joined the CAI as the Carate Brianza section, and the Rifugio Carate Brianza became the property of the CAI. Between 2016 and 2017 the rifugio was completely renovated and equipped with a winter room for eight people.
