Lorna Griffin

Lorna Griffin ( Lorna Joann Griffin; born June 9, 1956 in Hamilton , Montana ) is a former American discus thrower and shot putter .

At the Pan American Games in San Juan in 1979 , she was fourth in the discus throw.

In 1980 the US boycott prevented participation in the Moscow Olympics . At the alternate Liberty Bell Classic , she was third in the discus throw.

In 1983 she retired in the shot put at the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in qualification. At the Pan American Games in Caracas , she won silver in the shot put and in the discus throw.

At the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, she was ninth in the shot put and twelfth in the discus throw.

In 1980 she became the US discus champion.
