Los Valles (Bolivia)

Los Valles ( Spanish for "the valleys") is a geographical region in Bolivia with an average altitude of 2000 to 3000 m, which extends in a strip from north to south between the eastern mountain ranges of the Andes and the Amazon basin to the east .

Los Valles includes large parts of the department of Cochabamba , the east of the department of Potosí , the west of the department of Chuquisaca and the department of Tarija , part of the department of La Paz , and the extreme west of the department of Santa Cruz near Vallegrande .

Los Valles is home to important urban regions in Bolivia, especially the Cochabamba - Sacaba - Quillacollo region , but also the Bolivian capital Sucre , the city of Tarija and a number of important medium-sized cities.

Agriculture

Mainly sweet potatoes , quinua , corn , vegetables and fruits are grown on the agricultural land in Los Valles .

In addition, the cultivation of grapes in the Tarija region is particularly important because it supplies the country's important viticulture industries. The region has a long tradition in viticulture, and grape production is also the basis for the Bolivian brandy Singani , which is part of many Bolivian cocktails.
