The Lotta ( Russian Лотта ; Skoltsamisch : Lått ; nordsam . : Lotto or Lohttu ; Finnish Luttojoki or Lutto ) is a 235 km long source river of the Tuloma in the Finnish landscape of Lapland and in the Murmansk Oblast in Russia . The river has its origin north of Saariselkä in Finland. Shortly before crossing the Russian border, the Lotta takes in the right tributary Suomu , flows in an easterly direction and flows into the Verkhnulomskoye reservoir . The catchment area covers 7980 km², the mean discharge at the mouth is 49 m³ / s. Due to the damming of the Tuloma, the former left tributaries Akkim and Annama now flow directly into the reservoir.
