Louann Brizendine

Louann Brizendine (born December 30, 1952 ) taught neuro- psychiatry at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Her research deals with female hormones and female moods.

Working life

From 1972 Brizendine studied neurobiology at the University of California, Berkeley and graduated in 1976 with a bachelor's degree. She then studied from 1976 to 1981 at the Yale School of Medicine with an MD degree. She completed her specialist training in psychiatry from 1982 to 1985 at Harvard Medical School , where she taught until she was appointed professor at the UCSF clinic in 1988 . In 2007 she received the Chair in Psychiatry at USCF, endowed by Lynne and Marc Benioff .

In 1994, Brizendine founded UCL's Women's Mood and Hormone Clinic in San Francisco and became its director. The clinic not only treats women, but also couples. Brizendine also holds lectures and classes across the United States.
