Kristian Sotriffer

Kristian Sotriffer (born October 3, 1932 in Bozen , South Tyrol , † December 19, 2002 in Vienna ) was an Austrian painter , graphic artist and art critic .

Sotriffer grew up in Val Pusteria and trained as a publishing bookseller . He was self-taught as a painter and graphic artist . From 1954 he worked in Stuttgart and Munich for the publishers Hirzel , Piper and Buchheim and from 1957 to 1967 for the Viennese art publisher Schroll . Since 1962 he has been writing art reviews for the Vienna daily Die Presse . From 1972 to 1983 Sotriffer was the artistic director of Edition Tusch, and in this function he made particular efforts to design the publishing program in a manner that was technically suitable for printing. From 1984 to 1986 Sotriffer worked for the Viennese publishing and printing company Herold, for which he wrote the standard work Die Kunst vom Stein in 1985 (together with Walter Koschatzky ) . Wrote artist lithographs from their beginnings to the present day .

Sotriffer received the Austrian State Prize for Cultural Journalism in 1993 .
