Marc Russell Benioff (born September 25, 1964 in San Francisco ) is an American entrepreneur.

Life

In March 1999 he founded salesforce.com , making him a pioneer in cloud computing . The magazine Forbes estimates his fortune in May 2020 to around 7.3 billion USD .

As a student, Benioff founded a company specializing in games for Atari . After graduating from school in 1982, he studied at the University of Southern California , where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1986. He then worked as a programmer for the Apple Macintosh , then switched to Oracle , where he made a career in marketing and sales.

In 2018 Benioff was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences , in 2019 to the National Academy of Engineering .

In September 2018, the sale of Time magazine from the previous owner, the Meredith media group , to Marc Benioff for $ 190 million (EUR 163 million) was announced.

On November 6, 2019, he donated $ 900,000 to the #teamtrees foundation, founded by MrBeast .
