Louis Gallaud
Louis Gallaud (born February 17, 1897 in New Orleans , † late 1985 ibid) was an American jazz pianist of New Orleans jazz .
Live and act
Gallaud recorded in New Orleans in 1949 with Ray Burke's Speakeasy Boys (with Wooden Joe Nicholas ) and "Big Eye" Louis Nelson Delisle . In the 1950s and 1960s he also played with Israel Gorman, Punch Miller , Polo Barnes , Captain John Handy , Charlie Love / George Lewis and Kid Sheik Cola, as well as regularly at the Preservation Hall . He suffered a stroke in the 1960s from which he recovered and recurred towards the end of the decade. In 1970 he made solo recordings for the compilation Crescent City Piano Players ( American Music ). In 1971 he retired and was largely forgotten. In the field of jazz he was involved in 17 recording sessions between 1949 and 1970. Gallaud called himself a "way old stylist".
