Louis Terreaux

Louis Terreaux (born November 7, 1921 in Chambéry ; † March 3, 2015 ) was a French Romance studies and literary scholar.

life and work

Terreaux studied in Grenoble (graduated in 1942). Then he was a high school teacher in Saint-Pol-sur-Ternoise , Évreux , as well as at various schools in Paris. In 1949 he passed the Agrégation de grammaire . From 1959 to 1970 he taught at the University of Poitiers . In 1967 he completed his habilitation at the Sorbonne with Raymond Lebègue and Robert-Léon Wagner with the two Thèses Ronsard correcteur de ses œuvres. Les variantes des "Odes" et des deux premiers livres des "Amours" (Geneva, Droz, 1968) and (Ed.) Jean Bertaut , Recueil de quelques vers amoureux (Paris, M. Didier, 1970) and took over the chair for French (Middle Ages and Renaissance) at the University of Savoy, which is currently being established in Chambéry (12 years of which as dean). With Franco Simone and Lionello Sozzi he founded the Center d'études franco-italien / Centra di Studi Franco-Italiano of the Universities of Turin and Savoy, which enables a Franco-Italian degree. In 1975 he became a member of the Académie de Savoie, which had existed since 1820, and was its president from 2002 to 2012. He was a corresponding member of the Accademia delle Scienze di Torino . From 1977 to 1989 he was mayor of the municipality of Saint-Jeoire-Prieuré . Terreaux was a Knight of the Legion of Honor .
