The Saint-Pol area was the location of German fighter pilots during the German occupation in World War II. From the end of May 1940, various command staffs were quartered in the Château des Brias, located 5 km northeast, and the fighters available to the squadron staff were located at the Saint Pol-Brias field airfield , which was located between the two villages directly to the east of today's D 941. During the Battle of Britain from the beginning of July to mid-November 1940, the airfield was used by the Bf 109E of the III. Jagdgeschwader 2 (III./JG 2) group used.
