geography

Puisieux is about 23 kilometers south of Arras on the border with the Somme department . Puisieux is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Bucquoy in the north, Miraumont in the east, Beaucourt-sur-l'Ancre and Grandcourt in the south, Beaumont-Hamel in the southwest and Hébuterne in the west.

history

Puisieux was the scene of fierce fighting during the First World War . The westernmost point of the German western front was in the neighboring Gommecourt . In the summer of 1916, the Battle of the Somme raged immediately south of Puiseux .
