geography
Hannescamps is located about 21 kilometers southwest of Arras on the border with the Somme department . Gommecourt is surrounded by the neighboring communities Monchy-au-Bois in the north, Bucquoy in the east, Foncquevillers and Gommecourt in the south and Bienvillers-au-Bois in the west.
history
Hannescamps was the scene of fierce fighting during the First World War . The westernmost point of the German western front was in the neighboring Gommecourt .
