Saint Martin Church

Beaurains is a French municipality with 5662 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Pas-de-Calais in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Arras and the canton of Arras-3 .

geography

Beaurains is a banlieue in the south of Arras . Beaurains is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Tilloy-lès-Mofflaines in the northeast, Neuville-Vitasse in the southeast, Mercatel in the south, Agny in the west and Achicourt in the northwest.

The Route nationale 17 runs through the municipality .

history

The first church building at this location can be traced back to 674. In the infirmary was Jean Bodel treated during the 12th century.

The Beaurains treasure was discovered in December 1922: it was a hoard with ceramic goods, silver candelabra, coins, jewelry and other jewelery from the 3rd century. The treasure is partially lost, but most of it is on display in the British Museum in London and the Museum of Arras.
