The Urban Community of Arras is a French association of municipalities with the legal form of a Communauté urbaine in the department of Pas-de-Calais in the region of Hauts-de-France . It was founded on December 12, 2012 and comprises 46 parishes. The administrative headquarters are in Arras .

Historical development

The Communauté urbaine d'Arras emerged from the District urbain d'Arras founded in 1965. Since the establishment is before the law on the Communautés urbaines (Loi Chévènement) was passed, the Community is not subject to the minimum population of 500,000 contained in this law. In 2013, the community association was re-established under the same name after 15 additional communities were added.

With effect from January 1, 2017, seven municipalities from other associations joined the local association: Six municipalities ( Basseux , Boiry-Saint-Martin , Boiry-Sainte-Rictrude , Ficheux , Ransart and Rivière ) came from the dissolved Communauté de communes La Porte des Vallées , the municipality of Rœux from the Communauté de communes Osartis Marquion .
