Monchy-le-Preux is a French municipality with 651 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Pas-de-Calais in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Arras and the canton of Arras-2 (until 2015: canton of Vitry-en-Artois ).

Monchy-le-Preux is three kilometers southwest of the city center of Arras . Monchy-le-Preux is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Fampoux and Pelves in the north, Boiry-Notre-Dame in the east, Vis-en-Artois in the south-east, Guémappe in the south, Wancourt in the south and south-west and Feuchy in the west and north-west.

The A1 autoroute leads through the municipality .

history

In the Battle of Arras (1917) there was considerable fighting between the German, British and Canadian troops.
