The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Arras and the canton of Brebières (until 2015: canton of Vitry-en-Artois ). The inhabitants are called Capelots .

Hendecourt-lès-Cagnicourt is surrounded by the neighboring communities Vis-en-Artois in the north, Haucourt in the north-east, Cagnicourt in the east, Riencourt-lès-Cagnicourt in the south and south-east, Bullecourt in the south and south-west, Fontaine-lès-Cagnicourt in the west as well Chérisy in the northwest.
