Louis Vincent (born September 24, 1808 in Stettin ; † unknown) was a meadow builder and cultural engineer in Regenwalde ( Pomerania Province , Kingdom of Prussia ).

Life

Louis Vincent was married and had two children. From 1842 he lived in Regenwalde. Nothing is known precisely about his death (before 1883).

Act

Louis Vincent worked as a surveyor and field builder for the Pomeranian Economic Society . On a study trip to England, Scotland and Belgium he got to know the system of soil drainage using clay pipes, the manufacture of drain pipes and the installation of drains. From 1845 he taught artificial meadow construction under Carl Sprengel at the Landbau-Akademie zu Regenwalde and tried out pipe drainage for the first time.

In 1862 Louis Vincent was commissioned by the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg with an expert opinion that aimed at the planned irrigation and drainage of the meadows on Lethe and Hunte above Oldenburg . Vincent succeeded in diverting the Hunte to the west around the Tungeler Marsch and building the Osternburger Canal as an overflow canal from Tungeln to the Cecilia Bridge in Oldenburg. As a result, a system of meadow irrigation that has been functioning for decades, the Rieselwiesenwirtschaft, was set up in four cooperatives. This era only ended in the 1950s.

Louis Vincent, who bore the title of the Royal Prussian Economic Council , described the technique of trickling in numerous specialist articles and specialist books.
