Louise Kartousch

Louise Kartousch (born August 17, 1886 in Linz ; † February 13, 1964 in Vienna ) was an Austrian character dancer as well as opera and operetta singer (soprano).

Life

She attended the music school in Linz and was trained in Vienna. She had children's roles in Linz and from 1902 worked as a second soubrette in Graz , where she also appeared in the opera (e.g. as Walküre ). From 1907 to 1921 she played in Lehár , Fall and Kálmán operets at the Theater an der Wien . She was referred to as a "soubrette of race and temperament" and the press highlighted her love of playing and dancing. Kartousch also appeared at the Raimund Theater , the Volksoper and the Theater in der Josefstadt .

Her honorary grave is on the Hietzinger Friedhof (group 17, row 5, number 220). In 1970, Kartouschgasse in Vienna- Donaustadt (22nd district) was named after her.
