Louise Thérèse de Montaignac de Chauvance (born May 14, 1820 in Le Havre-de-Grâce , France ; † June 27, 1885 in Montluçon , France) was the founder of the Oblates of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and was beatified by the Catholic Church in 1990 .

Life

From her youth she cultivated an ardent devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and to the sacrament of the altar . At 16, she vowed eternal virginity . In 1852 she opened an orphanage in Montluçon. She read the works of Teresa of Ávila and wanted to enter Carmel for a time . Eventually, however, she founded the pious association of the Oblates of the Sacred Heart of Jesus . From 1852 she was unable to walk. In 1879 she founded a preparatory school for future candidates for priesthood .

Louise Thérèse was beatified by Pope John Paul II on November 4, 1990 . Her feast day in the liturgy is June 27th.
