Lousa was a municipality ( freguesia ) in the Portuguese district ( concelho ) of Castelo Branco . The community had 622 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).
On September 29, 2013, the municipalities of Lousa and Escalos de Cima were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Escalos de Cima e Lousa .
history
Finds prove a prehistoric settlement. The Romans then settled here, like excavations and the like. a. of columns, building remains and a Roman road .
After the Reconquista was completed here, there was already a village here again in 1214 . The first official document of the place is a deed of donation from 1226 to the Knights Templar .
As part of the municipal reorganization on September 29, 2013, the community was merged with Escalos de Cima to form the União das Freguesias de Escalos de Cima e Lousa . The seat of the new municipality will be Escalos de Cima after completion of the implementation.
