Love From Hell is the first studio album that the American singer Dahvie Vanity released under his pseudonym "Kawaii Monster", as well as his fourth solo album overall. It was released on November 29, 2019.
backgrounds
On June 28, 2019, Dahvie Vanity announced the dissolution of the music project Blood on the Dance Floor after the release of the last studio album Hollywood Death Star . During the promo phase for this he released the 4-track EP Poison Love under the name "Kawaii Monster" on August 2nd, 2019 . He named himself after the ninth Blood on the Dance Floor album of the same name . Vanity has been releasing solo music since 2014, using the pseudonyms "Master of Death" and "Sinners Are Winners".
From November 29, 2019, Love From Hell, the first album as Kawaii Monster, could be ordered on CD in the official online shop of Dahvie Vanity; Only on February 21, 2020 did it appear widely on streaming and download platforms . The physical and digital editions of the work differ significantly, however, and only overlap in five tracks (the first four singles and the song Dead Inside ). If the CD version contains three songs from Poison Love- EP as well as the Blood on the Dance Floor single Reign of Terror , which can not be found on any album , the digital version contains the fifth or sixth Kawaii Monster single instead.
Dahvie Vanity wrote and produced all of the titles himself. Sammie B and Voxout appear as guest artists , who also acted as co-authors on their respective songs.
Six singles were released from the album: Total Nightmare , Love From Hell (which was still titled From Heaven to Hell on the single ), Dear Best Friend , It's a Sunny Place For Shady People , Sleeping With Demons and I Am With You .
Music and lyrics
Love From Hell mainly contains songs in the industrial rock genre. These are mainly characterized by hard electric guitars - riffs and pounding electronic rhythms and synthesizers . Vanity brings out clearly sung, memorable melodies as well as screamo vocals. A musical exception is the two songs Sleeping With Demons and I Am With You is former is consistently of one. Trap - Beat underlaid and includes rapped passages, while the latter called in Synth Pop is held style. In terms of content, the songs mainly revolve around love relationships , or the end of these. It is often discussed that the partner of the first-person narrator turned out to be malicious, while other songs have a conciliatory tone.
Cover design
The cover artwork for Love From Hell shows a blood-smeared film strip on which two images of Dahvie Vanity can be seen standing in front of a white , but red- lit background. In the upper picture he is looking into the camera, on the lower one he has a lowered head and looks diagonally to the left. He has no upper body, but has black angel wings belted on him. In the picture below you can see that he has small horns on his head . Like the overall motif, the singer is covered in blood. In the middle of the cover is the pseudonym of the musician in large white letters, underneath the album title in a much smaller amount in the right section of the image in red letters, the first "O" and the second "E" being stylized as flames .
