The Dresden IV constituency was a state electoral district for the state election in Saxony in 1990 , the first state election after the re-establishment of the state of Saxony. Its constituency number was 42. For the 1994 state elections , the constituency structure was changed as a result of the district reform, and the number of constituencies was reduced from 80 to 60. The area of the Dresden IV constituency became part of one of the six constituencies in the Dresden city area.
The constituency area comprised parts of the southern urban district with the residential districts 601 to 632, 638, 648 to 652, 656 to 663 and 704 to 713.
