action

The very well-behaved waitress Eve Stuckley, who works in the Hog-Chow Diner in a small town , lives in a house with her brother Chuck, paints pictures in her free time, dreams of studying at a New York art school. She has been in love with the attractive womanizer Jeff Sweeney for years, who has no particular feelings for Eve. In contrast to Eve, Eve's colleague Alma Kerns is not only older, but also very seductively dressed, plays with her charms and openly maintains a highly erotic relationship with the funeral director Red Bishop, whom she marries towards the end of the film (the bridal couple is on the birthday cake in an open coffin). The model businesswoman Linda Avery appears in the restaurant, fascinated by Eve. In the evening she invites her to a bar where Jeff works at the bar. Chuck and especially Jeff try to get in touch with Linda, whereupon Linda makes it clear to them that she is only interested in Eve. Linda invites Eve for a bottle of schnapps, they get drunk, laugh a lot, and Linda gives Eve their first kiss in the toilet. They are watched by a woman from the cabin who is delighted. Since everyone involved appears frequently in the Hog-Chow Diner, almost everyone knows who wants to hang out with whom. Alma advises Eva to throw a dinner party at her home and invite Jeff and Linda among others. After Jeff realizes that he has no chance with Linda, he tries to "save" Eve from the lesbian. He invites her to dinner, gives her a necklace, is attentive to her and tells her that she is "nice". That's not enough for Eve. Furious, she tears the Jeff photos from her mirror because she wants to break away from this unfulfilled love. At the same time, she meets regularly with Linda, who lives in hotel room 201. For Eve, Linda is the first person who loves her, cares about her and gives her compliments. At a meeting at Eve's house, Linda clears her chest. When she realizes how surprised Eve is, she explains that she just wants her to paint her naked (topless), which Eve likes to do. They are surprised by Jeff and Chuck.

Linda tells the owner of the Hog-Chow Dinner, the Pole Len, while chopping the pork knuckle, that she has not seen her father for 10 years because he could not cope with the fact that she is a lesbian. Len advises her to call him, and Linda has a friendly conversation with her father. Linda has an argument with her boss on the cell phone and throws the phone on the roof of the Hog Chow Dinner in anger. One day Len drops dead. Eve and Alma (still unmarried at this point) fear for their existence. Linda drives to the restaurant again and hears her cell phone ring on the roof. She climbs up, holding onto a plastic pig that is attached to the top as a restaurant logo. A piece of the pig breaks off, which reveals a lot of money inside. Linda brings the money to the restaurant - Eve can now afford to study in New York.

Eve always picks up her mail from the mini-shop owner Wilbert. She also bakes him cakes based on his late wife's recipe. Wilbert later explains to Jeff what love means, "When you're good for someone." He gives Eve the letter that she has been accepted as a student. Eve immediately informs Linda of this at the hotel. Suddenly another woman comes out of the bathroom. So Linda found someone. The three laugh about it. Jeff's interest in Eve is growing all the time. What initially looked like a trial of strength with a lesbian and a desire to conquer seems to have developed in love. He, too, hangs the pictures of blond, slim women from his mirror. He realizes that he was a macho. He meets Eve and spends a night with her in her bed. Eve chooses New York and asks Jeff if he wants to come with me. He says - as he is used to being a macho - me or New York, and drives away. When she is already in New York, Jeff suddenly shows up to stay with her.

Linda takes over the restaurant with her new friend - an acquaintance of Eve - and renames it "Hen House Dinner" to allude to the female owners. Linda also thinks chicken is healthier. Between the individual film sections you can see - in black and white - a cinema entrance and in front of it a man affixing the letters for the respective evening to the illuminated board. For example, "It started with a kiss" or "Follow that Dream". At the end of the film you can see the scene in color. The cinema man has just added “The happy ending”. His friend drives up in a red car. The cinema man gets in. They kiss on the mouth.
