The Loxahatchee River is a river in Palm Beach County in the US state of Florida .

Its source is about two kilometers west of Interstate 95 in Riverbend Park . After about 12 km it crosses the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway at Jupiter and flows into the Atlantic Ocean . Since May 17, 1985, it has been under special protection as the National Wild and Scenic River and, along with the Wekiva River, is one of two rivers in Florida that are managed under this name.
