Luca Caracciolo (born September 17, 1978 in Wolfsburg ) is a German - Italian journalist . He was editor-in-chief and is now editor-in-chief of t3n magazine . Caracciolo deals with future technologies and internet topics. He is considered an expert on the digital revolution .

Life

After graduating from high school in Fallersleben in 1996 , Caracciolo studied social sciences at the University of Hanover and in Florence from 1998 to 2004 . In the meantime he sat in on the Berlin daily newspaper taz and the television program 3sat in Mainz.

Career

During and after his studies, Caracciolo worked for four years as a freelance journalist for the Wolfsburger Allgemeine and the Neue Presse of the Madsack publishing company . In 2005 he switched to the specialist publisher Aktivmedia. There, Caracciolo was the chief editor and content manager responsible for the production of various specialist magazines in the event and marketing area as well as for setting up the websites.

In 2012 Caracciolo finally came to t3n magazine as editor-in-chief. After co-founder Jan Christe moved to the position of editor in 2016, he was promoted to editor-in-chief while Stephan Dörner took over the online edition. Caracciolo also initiated the t3n podcast , in which he and Dörner regularly speak to prominent guests.

Under Caracciolo's leadership, t3n magazine decisively expanded its unique selling point in the digital economy . As an author and speaker, he deals with future technologies, such as virtual reality and artificial intelligence and their effects. He has already spoken several times at re: publica , one of the largest European digital conferences.

Awards

In 2019 Caracciolo received the prestigious Lead Award in silver as Journalist of the Year in the “Magazine Debate” category. The prize is awarded annually to the most creative and innovative journalists in Germany.
